Barley needed at U of S for feeding study
Dr. Greg Penner is undertaking a study using barley with both heavy and light bushel weights at the University of Saskatchewan. They are trying to understand how the variability in test weight affects processing and what options there are to manage for anyone feeding cattle.
Dr. Penner is seeking five sources of light barley (< 56 kg/hL, 43 lbs/bu) and five sources of heavy barley (>62 kg/hL; 48 lbs/bu). They need 200 kg from every source of barley. Different sources of barley can come from one farm, but different fields. It would be ideal to know the variety they are sourcing.
The research team is funded and can pay for the barley. They can also cover delivery costs, or could pick it up.
If you have barley that fits this description, please contact Dr. Greg Penner. His contact information and biography is available on the University of Saskatchewan website.
