Prairie Nutrient Calculator: Take Control of your Soil’s Nutrients

Knowing the nutrients available in your crop land is key to having good soil health every year.

The nutrient calculator estimates the nutrients removed from the harvested seed or grain based on previously collected survey data from commercial fields across Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba.

The Prairie Nutrient Calculator was led by Drs. Fran Walley and Rich Farrell at the University of Saskatchewan, and supported by John Heard with Manitoba Agriculture and Lyle Cowell at Nutrien.

The Prairie Nutrient Calculator is an important tool for farmers in determining the Right Rate in 4R nutrient management. The project was an important effort in fully understanding nutrient removal. The calculator adds data for several crops and micronutrients.
